“My Boiler Isn’t Working”
When it comes to heating a household, the last thing you want is for the heat stop working. Newer homes rarely see this problem, as the heating systems are typically electric, or heated with a wall mounted mini split system. For many older homes, heating comes from either a forced hot water system, or from a steam system. Baseboard heating in a home is powered by forced hot water that runs through a coil along the baseboards of a room. Steam heat, runs through large cast iron radiators to provide the heat to a room. Both types of heating are found in older homes, and are powered by what’s known in the basement as a boiler.
This large, bulky, box looking appliance is what heats, and fuels an older homes heating system. Because of the heavy usage of a boiler, if not properly maintained, they can suffer from a series of problems. Sometimes, the heat not working might be an issue as simple as the pilot light being out, which is usually a simple fix. Sometimes, it could be a much more involved problem, but not to worry, our team of plumbers are here for you.
